Start your business in Texas
Confirm the rules for your actual business model and operating city. Texas treats transportation network companies and limousine services differently; a rideshare rule is not automatically a limousine rule.

Register your business
Choose your business structure and review Secretary of State registration and assumed-name requirements. Confirm any other filings for your business location.
Confirm your operating permits
Ask your city about limousine or vehicle-for-hire operating and driver permits. Houston, for example, has a Vehicle for Hire permitting office. TDLR's TNC rules exclude limousine services from that TNC category.
Prepare your vehicle and insurance
Confirm your city's vehicle eligibility, inspections and driver requirements before purchasing. Arrange commercial insurance that covers your passenger service and meets the applicable permit requirements.
Check airport access
Check each airport separately. DFW issues company, driver and vehicle permits for regulated commercial transportation providers; permission for another location does not replace its process.
Prepare for your first bookings
Once you have the required permits and insurance, give customers a clear way to find your company and book with you.
- Set your services, coverage area, prices and cancellation policies.
- Share your booking page with your contacts, hotels and local businesses.
- Ask for reviews after trips and follow up with your customers.
Manage your company with PrivyRides
Organize your customers, bookings, prices and payments. With the applicable plan and a published profile, you can list your company in the marketplace and offer booking on your website.
Customers choose the company. Your company provides transportation and maintains its permits and insurance; a listing does not guarantee bookings.
